The dimensions and thickness of tubes and bars are designed for each cardan series to provide a good safety margin concerning the torque they must support.
For work situations in which the tubes undergo constant telescopic movement and/or undergo abrasion processes, almost always in direct contact with manure and fertilizers, AEMCO coats its tubes with a special oil for Guard and reduction of friction.
The length of these tubes is variable according to each cardan model, but this length can be reduced by the customer as needed, as the distance between the tractor PTO and the implement coupling axle varies for each machine brand and model.
When carrying out work to reduce the length of the cardan shaft, it must be done in such a way that the contact surface between the tube (female) and the tube/bar (male) is 1/3 of the length of the closed cardan in the most critical condition.
In 3-point coupling implements, the critical condition occurs when the implement is fully raised. In implements drawn by the drawbar, the critical condition occurs on tight curves.
In normal working conditions, with the implement horizontally and working in a straight line, the overlapping value should be 2/3 of the minimum length. These norms allow for the proper functioning of the cardan shaft, preventing breaks and accidents.
